About the artist:
Renee So was born in Hong Kong and raised in Australia. Her Chinese and Australian background strongly informs her work, and reconciling her personal experience and the legacy of the two cultures is central to her artistic explorations.
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art in 1997, Renee So has exhibited widely in both artist-run spaces and public galleries.

Melbourne-based artist Renee So creates knitted objects and knitted images, both by hand and using a knitting machine.
Her use of this feminised, domestic medium in a contemporary arts context is striking and emphasises the divide between art and craft with gentle mocking.
