About the artist:
Jaishree Srinivasan moved to live in Australia in 1978. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, she undertook formal ceramic training, primarily at the Canberra School of Art. Over the past 14 years Srinivasan’s work has featured regularly in group exhibitions.
Much of her practice deals with the process of regaining a personal visual language derived from her South Indian childhood.
About the work:
The two works created for this exhibition, Sub version and Revision, are part of an ongoing journey by the artist to reconcile formal ideals absorbed through her training as a ceramicist with a richly visual, personal vocabulary acquired through personal experience and the cultural traditions of South India.
