About the artist:
Alistair Trung completed a Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Textiles at the University of Technology, Sydney, in 1994. He established the Alistair Trung label in 1999, and a year later opened the Alistair Trung Boutique in The Rocks, Sydney.
Apart from the Sydney boutique, his designs are stocked by prominent fashion retailers nationally, as well as internationally in Hong Kong.
About the work:
Stimuli from his childhood in Hanoi provide an essential core to Alistair Trung’s design practice and offer an insight into his clothing philosophy. His designs do not follow fashion and trends, but rather concentrate on the wearer’s comfort and style, mindful of the climate while maintaining respect for the cloth.
His work does not seek to appear ‘Vietnamese’; rather his designs contain a particular sensibility, revealing an eclectic amalgam of worldwide fabrics and influences.
